General Notes
The main difference between Pickware and most other warehouse management systems is that all data and functions are stored centrally in the shop system - i.e. in Shopware. This also means that Pickware is based on the already existing Shopware functions, e.g. for item, customer and order management or for invoicing. Pickware only creates its own structures in the Shopware database for data that is not available in the Shopware standard (e.g. suppliers).
Therefore, the migration effort to Pickware depends largely on how many of your processes you already map in Shopware without Pickware. The more features you already use from Shopware, the smaller the migration effort.
How to migrate when operating ...
... a Shopware shop without external warehouse management
If you are already using a Shopware shop without an external warehouse management system, then you will have the least migration effort. Usually you already use the order overview and the invoice generation of Shopware. Simply follow the instructions for the configuration of Pickware ERP to include the remaining data.
... a Shopware Shop with external warehouse management
If you have only been using Shopware as a sales platform and have organized the majority of your processes in an external warehouse management system, it is useful to familiarise yourself with some of the basic Shopware functions if you have not used them before. These include in particular the following Shopware functions on which Pickware is based:
- Order management
- Create items
- Configuring PDF documents
- Shopware e-mail templates
- Customer management
As soon as you have become accustomed to these functions and have made the necessary configurations for them, proceed as described in the section Shopware Shop without external warehouse management to enter the remaining data relevant for Pickware. You have usually already synchronised data such as items, categories and customers via a connector between the previous warehouse management and Shopware, so this data no longer needs to be included. Only the connector to the previous warehouse management must be switched off for Pickware to run smoothly.
... a shop with another shop system or without external warehouse management
If you haven't used Shopware yet, the first step is to migrate your data to Shopware. Shopware offers a migration tool for this purpose. You can find all necessary information here.
Once you have migrated your item data to Shopware, follow the instructions in the section Shopware Shop with external warehouse management.
